The Salvation Army Australia Launches Ambitious Multicultural Engagement Campaign

The Salvation Army Australia have today announced their Multicultural Engagement Campaign, an ambitious strategy aimed at ensuring that all Australians receive equal opportunity to access their social support, community engagement and faith expression offerings, particularly for new arrivals, and people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The Salvation Army Multicultural Engagement Campaign will begin its focus across the Greater Western Sydney region, one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse regions in Australia, before broadening its scope nationally.

For more than a century, The Salvation Army have been at the forefront of Australia’s charitable organisations dedicated to supporting communities and helping those in need. Throughout this time decades of migration have drastically changed the cultural landscape of Australia’s population, and The Salvation Army Australia have introduced this campaign to account for the varying needs, challenges and opportunities that have come together with Australia’s contemporary and diverse identity.

Miriam Gluyas (Lt Col), Divisional Commander NSW/ACT, The Salvation Army, said, “The “melting pot” of Western Sydney is something to be absolutely celebrated – the people of the nations have come to Australia and what value, life and story, you bring. The Salvation Army always has, and always will have, the desire to partner up, support, celebrate, welcome and include all people.”

“We are about caring for people, creating faith pathways, creating real community, and working for justice. And so, we want to get to know you and we want you to get to know us. We’re better together! Through the Salvos Multicultural Ambassador program and the Gala event, imagine the dreams that will be birthed, the hope that will be realised and the future that might be ours. Believing with you and for you”

The Salvation Army Multicultural Engagement Campaign will encompass a variety of exciting new digital engagement strategies, social support offerings, and event opportunities. This will include the introduction of a ‘Salvos Multicultural Ambassador Program’ which will engage key representatives from some of Australia’s most prominent cultural communities to create a two-way dialogue between The Salvation Army Australia and these important community groups.

The campaign will also be delivering the inaugural ‘Salvos Multicultural Gala’, which will strengthen and celebrate the contributions of multicultural communities to our Australian society and recognise the success of key leaders through the presentation of awards. The ‘Salvos Multicultural Gala’ will feature Stephanie Brantz, Director, Football NSW as Master of Ceremonies and key government speakers such as Senator The Hon. Kristina Keneally, Senator for New South Wales. To learn more about the ‘Salvos Multicultural Gala’ click here.

Pending COVID-19 safety protocols and restrictions, the ‘Salvos Multicultural Gala’ is set to take place on Friday 19th November, 2021 at Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta.
